"Shipped".
Simple word, simple concept. Why has it changed in the last five years? It used to mean "whatever we sent is now not in our hands". Now it means "Yeah, we printed up a label. It might not even be in a box yet.". When you pay a bill, is it paid because the check is sitting on your desk? Nope. Why can people call something shipped well before the carrier has the package? IF IT HASN'T BEEN SHIPPED QUIT CALLING IT SHIPPED! I'm talking to you pretty much every online place now. Saying something is shipped isn't even a status update anymore. Let me know when Fedex has the package on a truck. That's shipped. That means way more than "we got a number!"

Which is compounded by delays (particularly USPS) in updating status, such that "shipped" may actually be "shipped", but still read as just "label issued" because their system is apparently running on ENIAC with updates via punchcard.

Not having any trouble, it just annoys the shit out of me that everyone does it now.

That drives me nuts - especially when it's sometimes 3 days before they drop it off after generating the tracking #.
